When people ask questions, it comes mostlyfrom a good place. It depends on my mood. I agree with you on educating people. Sometimes if I think someone is asking from a nosy place, I’ll turn it around and say ‘where is this question coming from”, In future perhaps you could start with ‘can I ask about your blindness, or would you prefer not to discuss it’. For me its very nuanced because it depends what mood I’m in and how the question is asked.
