I suppose I have my own version of this. I love being shown off in a sexual context. My partner has recorded some of our encounters before and shared them, with my permission obviously. I mean, kink is kink. There are different degrees of it, but just because some kinks are more extreme or less mainstream doesn't mean milder ones don't qualify. And personally I wouldn't love for someone to bring up exhibitionism on a first date any more than I would want someone to bring up blood play or, I don't know, emetaphilia or whatever lol. It's all subjective.

Nah, you are correct. I am just teasing. I know that any kink can result in a bit of psychological confusion, and self analysis. I do get that. I think it’s a really important thing to do, to learn to be comfortable with oneself, wherever you are on the spectrum. I think it is just that those of us with more extreme kinks can be somewhat desensitised and jealous of the normal folk. LOL  I sometimes wonder if the exhibitionism kink isn’t like an eroticisation of a fear. Like, if you know you are always being more watched than other people, by virtue of being blind, people are watching you navigate a space, or do just other normal shit, because they’re fascinated. Why not eroticise that and make it something hot. I don’t know. Interesting stuff, I love the psychology behind these things

I get that, Meg. And I'm not going to try and convince you that it's okay. That feels weird and coercive and personally I don't love the thought of doing that. What I will say though, is that the responses on this post have shown this particular group to be accepting and kind in the face of someone else's shyness, and so in this instance, I'd think actually that makes this the perfect time to try and have those conversations. It's okay to just be here though and to observe and maybe build your comfort with it for a future time. :-)

That does raise an interesting question though, are there Facebook groups or discord communities that specifically explore the intersection between disability and kink, I have thought about looking into it but I suspect my search history would then end up being full of such intellectual sounding videos as wheelchair bound BBW wants you to teach her a naughty lesson, besides which I’m sure many of these places will be locked down and private.

I suppose that’s also what you get for being in a vibrant community like this. We are so lively and love to chat! It’s awesome. Well I don’t know what or how to share or how much was trauma as a kid and how much was curiosity. I’m in therapy for stuff. And I have synesthesia. I guess that’s all I will say for now. I guess we don’t chat privately about this because people can be predatory and stuff. I don’t know. Thanks.

I do remember one time and this is very personal, but I was in a Christian group and we were talking about lust and someone blatantly said to me. You probably don’t have a problem with lust at all because you can’t see anyway so you should count your blessings and I just about ran out of the room lol

That is insane! I do think a lot of non-disabled people view us as completely non-sexual beings. It really is something that people I know have spoken about before. And honestly, I think it happened to women more than men. Perhaps it is easier for non-disabled people to think of disabled women as completely desexualised, but men are maybe harder to desexualise, because we are just inherently horndogs

It's interesting for me, especially having grown up in Africa, where I suppose a lot of cultures tend toward the conservative. While I didn't have an in depth sexual education, it was always, always assumed I'd have kids. To the point where people were absolutely horified when I told them I wasn't interested. It was almost like my ability to reproduce outclassed the fact that I was disabled at all, which is so beyond the realm of most people's experience.

Well for me, it’s certain music, but I think that’s all I’m prepared to say because I don’t want any messages or being forced to play games or unwanted, curious questions. And the whole world doesn’t need to know. I’m sure I’m not the only one so statistically this is interesting. But even being able to share something with others like how I feel intense, emotional reactions, etc. is a very powerful thing because I even hid that for a long time. I just don’t want people to get the wrong impression now that every single piece of music does it.

Most of the time, these can be traced back to something that happened some time in early to mid childhood that got the kink started. I might actually do my own post about this. Exactly Matthew I mean for me I can see the connection OK? But if I just told someone passing by or something, it would be like what in the world? How does that even connect at all? Then if they knew I was blind, it might be a more profound understanding for them. It interests me any objects like boots or shirts or footwear or even anything like a piece of cheese or a cucumber or sports equipment or a stuffed animal or any image like snow or lightning, can trigger things in the brain.

I mean, we are adults. It’s OK to talk about dog poop. I’m sure… But I mean when I was a kid I either made fun of poop or we just never ever talked about the stuff. I don’t know why people have to shame others like I was told that even when you are helping a small child, you shouldn’t say things like we need to clean up your dirty mess because that could give the child a lot of shame growing up.
