A 432 versus a 440 KHZ

This is by far one of my favorite songs from the 80s and I remember hearing it for the very first time on the radio. But when I got into Radio and was actually playing it on the radio from what we called Denon it was different like what you're hearing now. I think that some of this has to do with the way that music is compressed these days and they change the frequency so it's not so noticeable. When that song first came out and was played on the radio and more than likely came from vinyl or from vinyl put onto a cart cartridge. But when I played it it came from a compact disc. And compact discs were compressed audio.
If you have Apple Music, you can switch it to play music and lossless audio and you will hear so much more than you would normally hear because lossless brings everything back into the music that compression removes. Now I'm going to have to do an experiment on my own and see if it brings the correct frequency back. I'm not necessarily expecting the original frequency that this song would have been heard at when it first was played on radio or when you bought it on cassette, but we'll have to see.

It is a pretty wild experience though when you listen to music in lossless audio because we have been listening to compressed music for so many years and it's almost like hearing the song for the first time when you switched to losses. If you do it with headphones, you're definitely going to hear things that you've never really heard in the songs. I highly recommend that people try this out and listen to what you've been actually missing out on. If you have Apple Music, you can go into music settings audio quality and switch to lossless and then put your headphones on and listen. I think you're going to need earbuds that are wired into the iPhone or AirPods or something like that to get the true lossless experience. Or your iPhone phone speakers will do it as well but it really needs to be experienced through headphones if you have something that would work.

Yeah, I just realized that too. I didn’t think about it when I first heard her say it. In fact, I think because she said 440 kHz, I think I was thinking about ham radio. I myself am a ham. My call is N8JHF.

You've got that quite a bit slower than what the original was. I remember when Africa came out in 1982 and it definitely did not sound like that. Well maybe it did on one of my cassette players that was notorious for eating cassettes. But that was definitely much slower than what it originally was.

I really do miss the occasional cassette drag sound though. That was definitely a bit of nostalgia from my childhood. And of course back then we would stop it immediately because we knew the tape machine was about to have dinner. And what a mess it could be getting that tape out.
