It sounds like you might prefer psychological thrillers then. I'm a Netflix person so my recommendations are going to be Netflix based. At the top of my list for existential horror is the haunting of Hill house and pretty much anything that director makes. They've actually got a really good lineup of psychological horror. They Are doing a monster series which is where they make 10 part features on actual serial killers. Now I find those really horrible because they are based on real humans enacting real torture on other humans. I watched the Jeffrey Dahmer one, and was horrified enough that I probably won't watch it again because it was actually really well done. The most recent one they did, I can't remember the name of the guy but he was a serial killer from Wisconsin, the one they based Buffalo Bill on? I could not finish that one because that just felt like gratuitous horror for the sake of it. But yeah, the horrors that humans come up with and actually enact on each other is much more horrible than the cartoonish inclinations from movies like saw or hostile in my opinion.

Have you seen Creep? It’s one of my favorites. I love horror but I can’t stand when a movie puts blood and gore over actual substance.

Yes exactly. Implied menace is sometimes worse than seeing it attempted to be made reality on screen you know? And no, I haven't seen creep, but I will check it out. Another good psychological horror is called the Babadook. I will admit, it is a bit pretentious but when taken at its bones, it's good horror in my opinion.

I’ve seen the Babadook a few times. It’s pretty good as well. Psychological horror is always the best

Replying to @livingdeadgirl: Have you seen Creep? It’s one of my favorites. I love horror but I can’t stand wI haven’t, I’m afraid though I’ll definitely check it out. I’m actually going to watch a stage play of the silence of the lambs soon so hopefully that has less of the blood and guts and more of the psychological side.
