Skyclad are the 'old goats' of folk metal. They exist within a weird intersection of political satire and practicing Wiccans. The band was formed in 1990 in Newcastle England. Their most well-known song is probably Parliament of Fools, but I decided to forego that one to aim for something more upbeat and folky. This song was released on the album "A Semblance of Normality" in 2004, alongside other hits such as Parliament of Fools and A Ballad for the Disenchanted. Some of their lyrics are utterly ridiculous and can sound quite pretentious, but their music is good and the style is decidedly British. Stay tuned for more music! Tomorrow we take a trip across the Atlantic to the wild wooded mythos of North America, where the spirit is hauntingly melancholic and definitely not what you think of when you think folk music!
