I guess you find ways to adapt if youre born into an environment like that, with the Uncle who was a bookstore seller I’m guessing the books weren’t in braille so did he have some kind of system to know which was which or did he just memorise them by the feel?

Actually the first blind professional I ever met was the father of one of my classmates in junior high school who was an attorney. He also came down and helped out as a wrestling coach of which he had obviously been a very high competitor in his younger days. This was long before I had any significant vision issues. And it was definitely amazing to see. what was possible.
