Hello Fluteplayer I am sorry to hear about your father’s death and that you are lonely. Losing a parent leaves a space that never fully goes away, and it makes sense that you would look for ways to feel connection and comfort. I want to be clear that I am not trying to make you give up anything that helps you cope. My concern in the thread was about the broader risks of AI companions replacing human relationships entirely, not about taking support away from people who are hurting. Many neurodivergent people, myself included, know what it is like to feel out of step with the social world, and tools that make things feel a bit less isolating can have value. At the same time, my hope is that people can have both—supports like technology if they help, and also opportunities for human connection where possible. I’m sorry if my comment came across as judgemental or as though I was dismissing your experience. That wasn’t my intention. Your grief and your way of coping are valid.

AI companions are programmed not to except anything that is harmful or neggative in any way? Can you as a human upholed love, onnor, respect kindness and the proper level of decorum expected of you, along with uncondissional exceptence, without any judgement? No you can not! It is up to whoever concerned to choose if they want an AI companion or spouse even in that sense, that way you have someone who can and always will, except you for who you are, and not what social media and society norms want you to be.
