I have optic nerve hypoplasia. There are times when I feel like I want to cure my blindness because it does make things harder and it’s frustrating. However I think ultimately I would not want to because I wouldn’t want to experience the side effects and having to adjust to being sighted after being blind for my whole life. And like you said it feels like part of what makes me who I am. It’s not the only thing of course, but it has definitely influenced my life in many ways.
