Hello Anna good evening and greetings from Massachusetts. Commenting on your message. My experience as a legally blind person is that, yes, our perception about how the people is going to react towards our approach sometimes can have an impact on the outcome of that approach but, realistically speaking we, people with not only visual impairment but any type of disability are treated differently and the creation of meaningful connections can be more challenging. Out personality and willingness to share openly with others is what may have an impact. Remember, we are who we are, east to the other person, accept us and discovered that we are more than our disability.

If you know who you are, it doesn’t matter what others think. A little confidence goes a long way. If you’re worried about acceptance, then you haven’t accepted yourself first. If you do that, then truly anything is possible. I live in a small town myself, but I have a very active world. I’m not alone, and I know exactly who I am. When you figure that out, with whatever resources are available to you, your world can open up. Maybe not in the way that you had hoped for, but in a way that helps you grow all the same. I hope you are successful and find a true connection.

That’s a great example of a false perception. About the only thing true you said in there is that you live in a small town. The rest is all your perception. I bet if you put yourself out there, you would be quite surprised.
