I haven’t seen all of the nominated films yet but it seems like it was a really good year for movies. I’m glad they aren’t only making comic book and intellectual property nostalgia movies, but stories that are a bit more real and relevant.

The industry never really recovered from Covid, and now the Silicon Valley streaming companies are taking over and The Spectre of AI is looming large. I thought Conan O’Brien‘s intro was pretty good for at least acknowledging that.

I’m like the fellow traveler. I couldn’t give two shakes of a rats tail about the Oscars. These people are out for their own self importance and that’s it. They don’t care what you and I think. They consider themselves our influencers and so we should take heed to every word they say and everything they do. Nonsense. Screw the Oscars. And the Academy award. And the Tony awards. In all award show presentation.

I like movies, and I like the fact that each movie is made by hundreds if not thousands of people from every walk of life. I think it’s far more corrosive to see political leaders and CEOs acting like style in social influencers.
