100% agree.

$.53 of every discretionary dollar spent by the USA goes to the military, and it has never been audited and never even audited itself privately to let us know how the money is being spent. Our entire lifetime has seen the military being used for corporate interest having nothing to do with national defense. Thinking about it ideally, or reflexively giving your support to it, is how it has been able to get so big and unaccountable

“Thanks for raising this, Dan. It’s important to ask who the military is really serving. Ideally, the military exists to protect citizens and national interests, but there are times when its actions benefit political agendas or corporate interests more than everyday people. Supporting a strong military doesn’t mean we ignore the need for accountability, transparency, and prioritizing diplomacy over conflict. Ensuring the military truly serves the public means advocating for clear oversight, responsible spending, and policies that protect human rights at home and abroad.”
