Completely agree, all of those excuses fall apart when you actually think about them for longer than 10 seconds. Theoretically, if you’re in a public space like a hangout, even a human being can be recording you and you would never know. But also, it’s almost always the people that are so worried about being recorded that are the first to say the most inappropriate things. This is exactly what I experienced when I entered a specific one a couple days ago, the same person who was insanely hostile towards anyone who refused to speak immediately was also the same person who immediately started talking inappropriately and uncomfortably the moment a person of the opposite gender joined. Maybe if you are so scared that your horrible comments are being recorded, don’t say them? Maybe? It’s really that simple

I thought it was just me!!! Several times I just pop in to see what’s happening and then leave and people make a big deal about it. A lot of the times I join for a second, hear people having a discussion I have absolutely no interest in joining in for any number of reasons and then exit. I really wish this app would allow you to view more details about a hang-out before you join. Discord voice chats let you see how many people are in one, who those people are and if people are muted/sharing content or not. Each voice chat also usually has its own accompanying chat thread for people who don’t necessarily want to speak but still want to contribute, or have something to share like a link. At least some of these would make them a lot more comfy. As it is right now, people and them can be downright hostile and weird sometimes 😔

it's ok, don't worry, there are plenty of people like this. the best thing is to not give a fuck fuck about them
