I am still trying to figure out amethyst if I am going to go to sick New World next year. It's pretty much the exact same lineup that I went to in 2024, minus a few other bands and adding on Cypress Hill. When I went I have to say that ministry was the one who hit the hardest out of all the bands there!

I have been to a few both of my valentine concerts, and if you ever get a chance to see them at a smaller venue I absolutely recommend it! They rock no matter wherever you go see them, however end those small venues you really get a chance to see how amazing they are as musicians and that's a band. Also I prefer smaller venues because there's more intimate, and you get a chance to really feel the music

Yes Mateo! Vulgar display of power is a fucking rad album! I love the history behind the front cover of that album, and if you have never seen that photo of the front cover it is of one of their fans who volunteered getting the absolute fuck punched out of him for the photo up! You just see the entire guys face completely getting wrecked with that one punch.

Oh wow, I think I just found my crew here. It is awesome to see more metalheads on Ramblio. You mentioned a solid list of bands I already listen to, and thanks to whoever mentioned Bullet for My Valentine. I really hope to see them live someday. That would be pretty epic. A great place to start with them is The Poison. Some other bands I would add are Starset, Palisades, and Pantera. If Pantera has not been mentioned yet, I will throw them in here. Vulgar Display of Power is still a classic. Someone also brought up Alter Bridge, which is an amazing band. I have listened to some of Miles Kennedy’s solo work as well, and I really love it. Blackbird is a standout album. I am also into Soundgarden, Iron Maiden, Asking Alexandria, and of course Rammstein. If you want a strong Iron Maiden era album, Powerslave never disappoints. I also really enjoy Dream Theater. I love how they change tempo and structure within their songs. Metropolis Pt. 2 is a perfect example of that. If we are talking about folk and symphonic metal, I really enjoy bands like Nightwish, Rhapsody, and Epica. Once by Nightwish is pure epic atmosphere, and Rhapsody’s Symphony of Enchanted Lands is legendary. Epica stands out strongly on The Divine Conspiracy. I could name many more, but this is a good summary of what I listen to, adding to the bands already mentioned in the post. Awesome pics.

Ah, i’m a bit jealous, I really wanted to go to the 20 year anniversary show with bullet for my valentine and trivium, couldn’t make it happen though, but I heard they both put on an awesome show! Also hope to make it to sick New World festival at some point, I know a couple of people that went to the same show you did, they didn’t do one last year unfortunately, but they have a heck of a lineup for 2026. I thought of another band called malevolence, really been listening to them a lot lately, they are a metal core band from England.

My 19-year-old son likes Type O Negative way more than I do, and he actually put the type of negative symbol on top of his graduation cap! When he went up to get his diploma in high school there was the type of negative symbol on it! I've seen the other bands such as corn perform as recently as two years ago in Las Vegas in that "sick New World" music festival!

Hey amethyst my son and I went to go see bullet for my valentine perform the entire poison album, and trivium headlined and played the entire ascendancy album. Both of them were celebrating their 20 year anniversary of their first albums! That was a fucking bad ass concert in Los Angeles! That album the poisoned by bullet for my valentine is an absolute masterpiece! That was my soundtrack to my platoon when I was in Volusia Iraq in 2005!

Lol are you serious? I live in Oceanside as well! I trained jiu-jitsu at 10th Planet Oceanside, and in North Coast jujutsu in Vista

Then you California guys probably know a band called Saint Vitus. Out of LA. Doom metal. Big song was born too late. Circa 86 Ish.
miggymiggymiggy
No shit. I’m in Oceanside.

I grew up in Orange County, and that is where a lot of the hard-core punk bands came out during the hard-core era. I believe in in San Diego county for the past 20 something years of my life!

For a skater vibe check out pavement. They're in the 90s. Lotta good stuff there.
miggymiggymiggy
That’s dope. I’m in my late 30s so my scene was more of the street punk era mixed with a little bit of the orgcore bands. Also in Southern Callie.

I actually have a strung out tattoo on my left elbow that is part of my sleeve! I'm 44 years old and these are the bands we grew up skating too in Southern California, and also the bands that we listened to before we were hit the surf in the beach!
miggymiggymiggy
Oh, I was talking to the Colton guy. Judging by the comment you left right above mine, you clearly know your shit. Good to see another strung out. Love that era of skate punk. in suicidal Tennessee is one of my all-time favorite bands. I lean more towards the punk side, so the self titled album is more my jam.
Eddie Howitzer
Absolutely! I know about all those bands, and plenty more. To me these are just my personal favorites, and I'm very aware that the bands you mentioned were pillar stones and influences to them
miggymiggymiggy
If you don’t mind the punk side of the influences in some of the bands you mentioned, check out Ramons and Sex Pistols. Both were big influences on Motörhead and megadeth.
Eddie Howitzer
My favorite punk rock band hands down a strung out, and I grew up listening to them since the first album in 1994! Thrash metal is absolutely suicidal tendency, and I would really have to sit down and think about my favorite metal band! If you want to listen to a absolutely bad ass heavy metal album that you will not have to touch your phone, or skip any songs to is "follow the reaper" by children of bodom! That was my 2001 album I listened to on a daily basis when I was deployed overseas in operation during freedom!

I'll give you one. Witchfinder General. Early 80s British metal. Proto doom metal. Good tracks to check out our free country, Witchfinder General, and rabies. Enjoy.
