Jarte does indeed work well. The Plus version has been free for a long time, which includes autogenerating outlines. You can customize kb shortcuts.

Unfortunately, this is a tough situation because what you’re asking unfortunately may not be something you can avoid! I’m pretty sure there has to be some sort of accessible alternative, but if there is it, then you just have to make use of what you have! Everything is being utilized with artificial intelligence now!

Fortunately AI has not had an active role in my writing that I know of. The issue comes from the fact that, in the terms and conditions of use for MS office and 365, it says that any content put through the program is used to train its AI, Copilot. I am not comfortable with putting my writing near that, full stop. I think it’s wrong that something like that is hidden in the fine print of such a widely-used program, so my refusal is mostly coming from ideological objection. I have tried anti-AI alternatives, but they are not accessible with a screen reader for the most part. Even LibreOffice, which is accessible, is not as smooth as it could be and does not hold formatting well when navigating tables and spreadsheets. You wouldn’t think these would be useful for creative writing, but I often use digital tables, spreadsheets and carefully-sectioned documents to organize my thoughts digitally. Please shift focus from whether or not AI has caused a problem to alternatives, if you have them, and if you don’t, I get that too and appreciate your input. But I want to use the rest of this thread to talk about word processors, not AI. Thank you.

Well, we could certainly create a separate thread to discuss whether AI is gathering its sustenance from our daily usage. In fact, even if we do that, it’s not as if we can bring about any significant change. What I want to know is—has there been a real-time incident with Elizabeth, or is it still just a matter of anxiety? If AI has indeed "poked its nose" into her writing, what does that look like? Finding out if there’s an NVDA add-on specifically for LibreOffice is a bit difficult. In open-source projects, people become so personalized that they don't necessarily feel the need to think about the general public. A long time ago, I saw some content in Russian regarding this, but those have since sunk to the bottom of the chat.
