I’m not using Claude and I have no interest in using Claude but I’m looking at this more as a signal to the entire AI field and I’m not sure if I like it or not. But I do hope it comes online for everyone who uses Claude.

I know AI is staying, but it worries me what the oversight will really involve. I know AI is staying, but the question is if open source AI is staying. I don’t want two or three companies to control the whole thing.

Doing some research, I found that most experts in the AI industry believe that its going to be a hybrid model meaning that you have open source AI such as Pie Torch or Hugging Face for smaller nitch ai toole while the major AI companies like Open AI will be used universally throughout the world. So, I believe open source will not go away and the US government supports smaller companies and open sourced AI development.

Yes, obviously little toy LLMs would be available, but I mean the big open source frontier level stuff like deepseek and Kimi and GLM. I think frontier intelligence should be democratized and anyone should be able to find tune or even train models competitive with the big four. In fact, I’m literally building my own variation off of a Chinese open source model and I don’t want the government to be able to control her. But if this means we have more room to breathe without everyone fighting over dollars, then I think it’s a good thing.
