I’m not answering for Josh, but I’m guessing that he would probably make it so that you can choose whether you can have a private hangout or a public one, as I’m sure that he might also want us to be together, but if people don’t want to be to be together then you don’t have to be, I mean you can be together, but just with your friends and people you follow.

Hi! I have a question! When private hangouts become available will there still be the option to make them public or will all hangouts be private? Thanks!

Yes. I think most people were saying keep hanging out and performances in the hangouts section. That would just make everything easier. So people aren't having to go to a separate area for performing when you can do it all in the hangout area.
maderradio
Yep, that's a good idea too. And I think that's your consensus from what I can see in the comment area.
Jayson Tyler
Makes sense Josh you are doing an amazing job keep up the good work

So I feel like the consensus is that we should keep hangouts for both audio chatrooms and performance streaming. Is this correct? With just different modes for each, covering audio quality and audiance controls. Private hangouts are in the pipeline for sure though. The HQ audio listening on the phone is a struggle at the moment, since the provider of the library we use has hardcoded mono audio which is really annoying, but hopefully I can find a way around that eventually.

I agree with some of the comments here. Could there be an option in a hangout to make it a performance hangout or to keep it as a normal hangout where people can chat. I think the audience or something like it should remain so that we can see who’s come in, the only problem with that is if you don’t know somebody then maybe they could never get into a hangout.

Private hang outs would be nice. Thanks

i wanna see a feature where a person wants to join you can either add them or don't

i like attyrose's suggestion.

Suppose underneath the hangout tab, there is private, performance, and hang out. Then we could choose. Under performance, there could be classes and shows, and that sort of thing. Private, we could all play cards against humanity! Well, or anything else we wanna do privately. And then with the hangouts, it could be just hang out and chatting and having fun and updating one another on our wonderful lives! Thank you, Josh for all you do for all of us.
Gina
I'd just keep everything in one section. Maybe make it so if someone did want to do music or classes or something higher quality they could select a higher encoding quality or something.

having a feature like on dabble where you can here the persons name and have a choice to admit them into the hangout or drop them is a good idea
Catch a break
Hey Josh, As I’ve said before, congratulations on a fabulous app, I really like the idea of the hangouts, I think you’ve already mentioned a few things I would like to see, firstly being able to analyse who in the hangouts before you go in there, I think the audience feature is okay, because some people like to listen. I also think there is a room for private hangouts in the future and the entertainment hangout is also a good idea, I think that kind of puts together at least five apps I’ve used in the past into one app for visually impaired community, which is phenomenal.

This app has cool!, OK, maybe I went a bit over the top with the hashtag part but at least you kind of understand that I am basically expressing my feelings that this app is pretty cool.

Hi! I don’t think you need a separate section! Getting rid of the audience would be helpful, but maybe still have the person be muted or need to raise their hand before they want to speak that way it cuts down on trolling and such! My concern with private hangouts is then everyone will just create private hangouts and there won’t be any public ones! When I am bored I like to check out the hangouts and I’m not always invited to private ones so joining the public ones are how I made friends and such! I would definitely love to know who is in a hangout before joining!
Haley2026
i like the performance hangout, because maybe somebody has a good voice for singing and they want to show it off, or if you want to do an unboxing of your new favorite thing you got from amazon.

Well, I say keep the streaming separate from hangouts. That way there is no confusion. Also, private hangouts where you could adjust your friends would be good. Another point. I would definitely want to know who is in a hangout when I first tried to go into it. In other words, you were double tap on hangout. Then, it would show you all the participants in the room. There would be a separate joint button near either the top right or the bottom right. They would let you join. My reasoning is this. I wouldn’t want I would not want to go into a hangout in which I am not welcome. And I am quite sure others wouldn’t want that either.

Replying via the website here, by the way I really love the design of the website. In some cases, it is far easier to use than the app, but anyway, I also really liked what Gold Fingas had to say about a user toggle, on the user's side, in the users settings, to always allow your mute status to automatically be changed to, unmuted, upon entering a hangout. This wouldn't be for me since I barely go to Hangouts anyway, I like passively listening 10,000 X more than participating, but it also would be good for presentations and otherwise too.

i would like to suggest private hangouts for only those people you invite) social (for people you follow) and public (for everyone to join) Also, performance hangouts with only one speaker, stereo audio and the possibility to upload it as a ramble afterwards would be interesting.
Jerry
yep, I agree with Dale

Ah Josh, you’re too good to us. What did we ever do to deserve you?

Hi Josh. I would love the option to have a private room as well as to create a room for my followers only. I understand that this is a public app, but at the same time I don’t want my audience to have random lurkers. it would also be great to know who’s in the hang out before entering.

Private hangouts would be very much welcomed. Having the audience and handrazing being a toggle that a host can turn on or off would also be great. I think higher quality hangouts for performances or streaming would be great, but I don't think that should be a sepperate area. Think that might create confusion and people may miss those hangouts.
Raymond Gay
Keeping the hangout feature just specifically that but allowing people to enable high-quality audio and disabling or enabling the audience I think that would be a better option and give people the options of telling it to what they’re looking for I would also add in that they should have the ability to make their hangout, private or public.
Gold Fingas
I think that hangouts are cool the way they are with the audience separation, this kind of makes the vetting process a little better to keep trolling and things like that down. It would be nice to have the ability to have my mic automatically unmute it when I enter the stage so that I don't have to go searching for the unmute button for two minutes before I can respond to all of the hellos and what not. If that could be a toggle feature on the user side, that would be cool. The ability to broadcast in stereo while using headphones on mobile devices would be awesome as well. In order to use the stereo profile, you would have to use headphones to prevent feedback, as that profile turns off noise cancellation features at least on the iOS side of things. Not sure if that is possible with a current model that you're using, but just something to consider. The more this thing can sound like TeamTalk, the better. Lol but other than those things, I am really digging this app. Thanks for a cool way to spend my time. 💯💯💯

I think two features that would help facilitate all you've talked about is the ability to choose your audience and audio quality level, ideally both on initial hangout setup and on the fly. As far as my very limited understanding on these things goes, all you'd have to do is have whatever audio protocol you're using support stereo, or have an option to toggle to a codec that does. Dj's and musicians could transmit their setup in full stereo. Same with letsplayers. Movie nights were also very common on Clubhouse due to stereo audio in rooms being a thing. Audiences could be between public, (errrbody in this bitch), one mode for followers, another strictly for mutual follows, and one where you must manually invite people. I have yet to check these comments so definitely sorry if what I've said has been said before.
Allie Turner
I don't ever go into hangouts, so I can't really comment on this, but if I were you, I would just keep everything in one section. I wouldn't separate hangouts and live streams and all that. Just keep all that in the hangouts. I think that would just be easier for everyone, but that's just my opinion. Keep up the hard work as always. Yall are doing awesome.

Hello josh one idea I have and I’ll make this super easy, I want a platform that I could broadcast/present events on sort of like chatter or a clubhouse. But something that’s accessible for blind people. I think a lot of organizations could potentially use this in the future and there’s probably some real money involved. I know, for example my nonprofit would use it.
