I've had a little bit of luck with logic, but like you, I think it's a little clunky. Native access is pretty good through native instruments. Complete control. That spelled with a K, but I'm dictating. I also use reaper. That's extremely accessible. I think using multiple things, and using each accessibility thing from those things makes sense.

I have been mostly using Audacity, a free multi track recorder editor. It's very accessible. I've just started using reaper which is a far more powerful and complicated daw. it's gonna take a long time to learn. there are email support groups for both as others have said.
