Where did you find that article? I’ve even heard that they have sexual assault allegations against them as well. I’m not sure how true that is.

I agree. I belong to one of these organizations. I have witnessed another member with multiple disabilities such as developmentally challenged disabilities mixed with cerebral palsy, with blindness and being treated like a child in front of other members of the group. I have witnessed those who are blind and visually impaired professionals who have jobs treat those who are unemployed and not as independent with ability as children or as letting the blind movement down. They use their position as been employed and independent to exert control, hierarchy, intelligence over those who are not that independent or unemployed to kind of Lord over them. Sometimes it feels very clicky, and sometimes it feels very condescending and patronizing from those people when they make presentations to the rest of the group making those who are unemployed and less independent, feel like children and being lectured to. Instead of encouragement and motivation, it feels like they are putting people down. I even once witnessed at one of these conventions, a presenter yell and shout at people in the back of the group for talking, even though it was explained to them twice that it was an interpreter speaking to someone whose heart of hearing and blind, and that interpreter wasn’t even being that loud.

And when you go to those conventions, it’s always fun. I guess checking out the humongous prices of equipment and gadgets that are meant to improve our lives which cost in the thousands of dollars. I’ll stick to my iPhone thank you

Yeah and the whole thing about not asking for help is fucking ridiculous. I don’t feel like I fit in all Colorado is just NFB bullshit. They did however help me out with and ending my conservatorship which was a good thing. I haven’t gone to any meetings, like I said I feel like I don’t fit in, I don’t click with anyone, so I’m just a loaner around here.

I thought the NFP only had those allegations. I didn’t think that ACP did, but I don’t know since I haven’t gone to any of their national or state conventions. I only want someone Federation convincing and everyone was a nice to me there although I have heard about things happening at the training centers.
