Thanks for your detailed response Theepan. There are some great shortcuts in that comment. I particularly like the one that lets you start a ChatGPT voice session, basically giving you two assistants you can easily call on instead of just Siri. I tried a Siri shortcut to switch to my airpods a while back but I found it took too long and failed half the time, so when I got Airpod Pro 2s I didn't bother to reset it. Maybe I should try a VoiceOver gesture instead.

Oh and I also found some bugs with the Shortcuts app on iOS 26. While I am editing a shortcut, if I search for and add an action, voiceover loses focus outside of the action pain and is stuck there. I have reported this to Apple along with a couple of other minor issues. Let’s see when they fix them.

To be honest, using low power mode when I’m travelling doesn’t seem to affect notifications all that much. I still seem to be getting them in the same way I do when it’s off. Wi-Fi, I think it’s because I’ve seen somewhere a long time ago that turning it off when I’m out will save some battery as it will not constantly be scanning for Wi-Fi networks as it’s turned off, not sure how true that is these days mind you.

That's an interesting use. I'm curious about your thinking behind turning off data when you're home and wi-fi when you're out. The low power mode usage is also interesting because I would think fetching and notifications and such would be more important while you're traveling. Very nice use of geofencing though! In a previous chapter of my life, I lived in an apartment with several smart speakers and used automation to begin playing music when I got to my complex so I would always be greeted with an interesting song when I walked in the door, and everything would stop playback when I left. I have smart tvs now but haven't bothered to set up automations for them just yet. I think I will do more with smart lights once I install them. Everyone talking about linking Low Power Mode to a triggering event has me realizing how much battery I have probably wasted over the years not doing that lol.

I use automations which is part of the Shortcuts app more than the actual Shortcuts, I have two location based automations, one when I leave my house, it will turn on mobile data, turn off Wi-Fi, and turn on low power mode, and when I get back home, it reverses the process.

Yes, I have a shortcut for when my battery goes below 20% and it will alert me via a try tone as well as say something, it will also switch to Low Power Mode. I have one for 10% too just because sometimes I don't always get the pop-ups that tell me my battery is low.

I have one that announces battery low with TTS and switches on low power mode when my phone hits 10%. I also have 2 for copying my current clipboard text to and from a file in Dropbox.
