I don't think I've ever lucid dremt, but i just got out of watching an intense movie where the guy was like I am lucid nothing is wrong with my mental state. It was hard. so I think I'm taking a break from this topic nothing personal. But I did have a sleep paralysis dream once, it was absolutely terrifying, I remember everything. I think maybe I was able to control a dream and like control the best part but no, not a lot of experience. is this all over the place? lol just trying to piece it all together here. but yeah in my sleep paralysis I was lying in my playroom as a kid and heard this buzzer and someone was going to get me and I could not move I tried calling help physically and couldn't muster more than a hoarse breath no one could hear me. it was terrifying.
Yes. I started to take up studying lucid dreaming because I used to struggle with nightmares, and sleep apnea. due to the intensity of my night terrors. And yes, I have been able to tell myself in the midst of a nightmare that I am dreaming, and I've been able a couple of times to shift the scenario so that something scary was turned into something silly. My best lucid dream trick is that as a method of escaping, I was able to conjure wings because a nightmare mode, running away from something feels like running through mud. So manifesting wings to fly or float above and away from the thing chasing me I would call a lucid dreams success.

@Itachi The early part of your last post reminds me of that fairly old movie Flatliners.

Falling is what usually triggers my brain that I'm dreaming. Falling from a great height and just the prospect of being smashed to pieces used to really frighten me, and just generally being afraid of heights I think. flying or not being earthbound is my way of conquering that particular nightmare. Oh, and driving is also a trigger. I lost my vision later in life, and whenever I start to dream that I'm driving somewhere I will remember that oh yeah, I haven't had a license in quite a while! And then funnily enough, the realization that I shouldn't be driving triggers the falling sensation and suddenly I'm driving off a cliff, until I am able to float my way out of the falling car etc.

This is such a fun topic. I’ve had dreams where I’ve jumped and flown and did the breathing under water but never lucid dreamed completely. Maybe pieces.

This was a really interesting post. I find lucid dreaming fascinating. I’ve never been able to do things like flying or intentionally changing locations in my dreams, but I’d love to learn how. The closest I’ve come is realizing, while dreaming, that it wasn’t real. During a bad dream, I managed to calm myself by repeating, “This is only a dream.”
