I am fully on board of what you're saying, however many times forcing the family to be together could be disastrous!

To be fair, before there was an interest on family when it comes to the holidays, they also served a lot of other purposes. I think family is an excuse to celebrate holidays. In addition to the obvious cash grabs. But a lot of holidays used to have other significance, even before religion decided that they would have importance. At this point, it's just nice to see family even if we shouldn't need an excuse or obligation.

All holidays are cash grabs! No one celebrates any holidays anymore for what they truly are meant to be, and instead it becomes a holiday day special for sales everywhere!
