I remember being 11 years old finishing up the sixth grade. I believe we were watching news on the LA riots in homeroom class.

I was several miles away wondering if it would spread to my neighborhood. Some local businesses were looted, but nothing major.

I was here in LA, nothing happened in my general vicinity, but it was just like miles around me. I also had a police scanner and you could hear everything that was going on. That evening you were able to hear police sirens all through the night, it was just mayhem. Me and my family was just glued to the TV. But I think the following day, which was on a Thursday, was much worse, especially in the afternoon and evening. Fires and shootings all over the place. The city was all full of smoke, From those fires.

As a sidenote. I heard on a radio interview years ago. A guy mentioned that the radical communist party was in those neighborhoods, facilitating, encouraging such mayhem.
