The majority of people on this app are perfectly reasonable people that 100% understand that and would never wish someone death or to take someone’s life that’s common sense. The Suicide Act of 1961 (UK) decriminalized suicide but made it a criminal offense to encourage, assist, or pressure someone to take their own life. In assessing harm, the law relies on a “reasonable person” test, meaning it looks at the likely impact of the words or actions on an average person—not whether the speaker was joking or intended harm. In short: it’s the effect, not the excuse, that matters.
