    I apologize if you said this elsewhere, but is there a reason why you don't use GoldWave or ... Reaper?

    OK, well from the description it sounds like gold wave might fit your needs. And it's only $19 for a year. Or $59 for a lifetime and the upgrades are free after that. So I don't know where you got the idea that gold wave is super expensive but it's not. And like you're saying that gold wave is old school, but there's a lot of people that think audacity is pretty old school. And I'm with you, I'm one of the people for whom reaper didn't work out. But I also don't do any of my own editing. I have other people who do know and like using logic and other things. But yeah, it's sad to hear. I used to use audacity a lot. I think I stopped after 3.2 because it got frustrating. Anyway, I hope you find a solution
