I remember Gold wave. I used to use it back in 2007 lol. As far as equipment goes, obviously, the more you’re willing to splurge, the better quality and also, the editing will be a lot easier. Less cleaning up and such. But honestly, with all of the available plug-ins out there now, you can get away with using pretty cheap equipment and using everything in post production to make you sound really good.

Man that is awesome! I do podcasting, and I also produce my own documentaries and pro wrestling sports shows. So, VoiceOver work, in a nutshell i've never really had great equipment, mostly a Plex talk pocket, and a laptop with gold wave but, I must say I do pretty well with what I've got. It would be nice to upgrade though.

Casey, I’ve got tons of knowledge on recording gear. Basic to pro level audio. Happy to assist if I can. the yeti is fine for certain things for sure. It just depends on what you’re trying to do with it. There is another microphone that is very similar that is also used for streaming called the quad cast. I find that there is less noise transference with that microphone and it sounds a little better. It does have multiple pattern switches as well if you’re looking to play around with it. But again, just depends on what you’re trying to accomplish.

Although the blue yeti microphone is certainly not the worst out there... I started my youtube channel with that mic. it isn’t very good for professional recordings. Because it is a computer mic, you will pick up on some buzzing noises from the cord. And if the gain is turned up, even just a little too high, it is very sensitive, and every little sound will be picked up. Including desk noises, clicks, and slight movements. If you are reading off of a braille display or anything you’d have to use buttons to navigate, the yeti may pick that up. I definitely suggest if you can to retrieve your audio technica if you had the choice. I hope this helps.
