It’s fuzzy, but I actually think it took me until sixth grade to stop being afraid of it after that. It was like OK buzzer OK start up. OK go. Be a brave hero! Lol. I actually do think fear is important to address with students in this case because part one is knowing how to prepare for emergencies yes but part two is like be brave stay low and run…

But by the way, they actually wouldn’t tell us I mean we had it rehearsed in kindergarten but all they did was take a little piece of metal and use it as a fire bell. By first grade, it was the real thing and I was not prepared. The thing is they wouldn’t tell us what day or time, they would warn us. There would be a fire drill that week, but no one would tell us in order for us to prepare quickly and know what to do. I absolutely hated fire drill day. Like no one understood at the beginning. They were like if we tell you it defeats the purpose so you’ve just got to man up and stop being afraid like that’s going to happen and sometimes it would be in the morning and sometimes the afternoon and the waiting was relentless.

If you listen to the three pulses and then the pause I feel it would have some kind of a calming effect a little bit. Stay strong and don’t panic. I know it’s hard. Believe me I was afraid in high school a little bit but elementary school my teachers had to tie my Hands to my desk in knots not with real string or anything, but you know like they put my hand on the desk and held them down so I wouldn’t be afraid. Good strategy teachers, lol Then we had this one in the university. It kept going off at four in the morning And one time we had to go out at 4 AM because one time somebody left trash on the ground and there was a real fire so they got mad and started doing disciplinary drills at four in the morning, thankfully not every day, but the sirens were awful. It sounded like an air raid siren, and one of the first times it went off I thought somebody was actually alive and screaming at me Instead of the sirens going off. It was terrifying. But I made it. At the risk of sounding patronizing, you’ll make it. You’ll be fine. It just takes practice. Hang in there.

Those alarms are definitely not wheelock mt's, but they sure sound almost like trueAlerts. When I was in school we had wheelock mt's all over the place, they were all set to code3 horn, and none of them were in sync with each other. Most of the time you never knew they were gonna go off unless you could hear the Panel piezo beeping. They had so many malfunctions it was awful, gave me ptsd like the dickens.
