Correct I have had experience is just fine without holding the record button. You can just record audio and enjoy as long as you don’t lock the screen while recording. You can just keep it unlocked.

Maybe if you’re using voiceover, but not if you’re doing it visually it explicitly stops me and actively tells me to hold the button down while recording and doesn’t work when I let it go
