I agree with Laiah and Robert. This is a problem with capitalism when it is not kept in check by government regulation. I started noticing it accelerating after the 2008 financial crash, and then again with Covid, and now with AI.

Customer service will be the death of me yet. Just today, I was trying to cancel a medical procedure. It was scheduled in December and I had my old insurance. The procedure is for next month, February 2026. The lady that answered asked me for my new insurance information. I said why. Why why why??? I said, you never had it so why do you need it? She said because it just comes up in the system that way under your health insurance plan and numbers. I said it doesn't make any sense. Can't you just go to the damn calendar and cancel my appointment. She told me I was hollering at her for just trying to do her job. Then she hung up on Me! I call back five minutes later and took a different route along the phone tree. I was able to get the procedure canceled within about 30 seconds of talking to the next person. That was so unnecessary. You're going to make me do extra work because you don't feel like tapping on a couple of extra fields on your screen. I don't even really know what to say about customer service overall because there is no word for how frustrating and how  inefficient and how anxiety provoking and how miserable it can be. For some reason I seem to attract bad customer service. It's weird.
