In your opinion, what are the differences between dating and Courting and what are the similarities?

I think dating and cording a very similar and that you're trying to get to know someone on a more personal basis. It's just in the beginning stages. Kinda. The difference is I believe is that cording would be more like, if a young lady still live with her mother, the young man would come over and just sit on the sofa and watch TV. They will talk on the phone. He might meet her at the library. He wouldn't be doing that with anyone else. But no touching. No sex. He might come over and sit on her porch with her in the summer. Dating, I believe it's just the next level where the two would actually go out somewhere maybe to a movie or to dinner or something like that. You would not be alone with cording. But you would be alone with dating. Now, with old-fashioned dating, there may be some kissing and touching. But no more. With today's dating however, you're having full sex, you're living together, you may even have some damn kids!!! Lol Dating today is not what it used to be. And unfortunately dating today seems like it's done with no purpose other than being together. There's no means to an end. There's no marriage planned or even thought of. It's just being together because two people want to and whatever. Today people can date for 20 years and think nothing of it. I think back in a day there was a goal and a purpose and that was hopefully marriage. OK, I never wrote no books on the subject but that's just my opinion. Oh, and I can also see the difference in that with cording, the young man May develop some type of relationship with the parents or guardians and perhaps ask for permission, I know, old school, to come hang out with the daughter. I know I know. This is some old stuff spoken by an old lady. But I don't see with dating where you need to talk to the parents. You're on another level. That's between you and her. And in today's dating, What parents??? Lol today both parties probably feel like the parents and guardians need to stay the hell out of it and that is that it's between the two adults now. Anyway

For me cording is similar to when you are essentially chasing each other.  Like you guys are talking, you’re interested in each other, but neither of you owe each other anything. Now dating is more like, hey we’re taking this a little more serious. We’re feeling this out. May not be monogamous yet but for the most part, you’re the person I’m trying to get with etc.
