Absolutely music should be in Churches, yes the classic hymns are great but I enjoy the modern music as well. Especially the Christian rock and metal but you know everyone has their own preference and I don’t have much of a problem with music as long as it glorifies God and doesn’t go against scripture. Now for the supporting verses: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. COLOSSIANS 3:16 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, EPHESIANS 5:19

Music is universally a part of many different life experiences. From birth, to weddings, to funerals, to birthdays, to worship service, to meditation sessions, etc. So, I think music in the church is no different. And based on the type of church, it does not have to be a Christian church but based on the denomination, the music will change. And even within that, depending on Where you are in the service, the music will change. Christian churches in particular, there is praise music and there is worship music. Praise worship praise songs being more upbeat and the worship songs being slower and more contemplative. Both have words that Reinforce the Christian messages found in the Bible. I think it's not only relevant in the religious institutions worldwide I believe music is relevant and important to all walks of life. Everybody has music.
