Anyone has the right to block who ever they feel like. If a person chooses to block you for whatever reason that is their choice and they have the right to remove you from their thread if that's the way they feel.

I agree, Dale, everyone has the right to misuse the block system that’s intended to block people for serious things such as threatening behavior or harassing behave or something like that. They definitely have the right to misuse the block feature for what the block feature was intended for.

The weird thing is I still get notifications from that thread that I’m blocked from I just can’t read what the people are saying so I’ll tell me like Missy has commented or Matthew has commented, so the block system is quite strange by not working completely then lol. Because even though I can’t participate, and I can’t read people’s comments, it’s giving me notifications of whose commenting and how long ago they commented.

The block feature is intended for people to be able to rid themselves of people they don't want to deal with. It doesn't have to be a serious problem, it can be simply about the fact that they don't like your content, they don't wish to hear your opinion anymore, any number of other things. So he isn't misusing the block button. He's using it the way he feels like using it, and in this instance, you happen to be the person who was blocked.

In fact. It is the report system which is meant for serious things such as threatening behaviour or harassment. The block feature can be used for whatever reason an individual chooses to use it for as I previously stated. It is unfortunate that there is a bug where you are still receiving notifications from a thread which you now cannot see, and this is something we can hopefully look into for the future.

The only annoying thing is I still get the notifications from the block thread and because I’m blocked I can’t mute the notifications so it’s irritating

So if the goal was to block me, the block feature doesn’t block me completely because I still have access to notifications of who is commenting in that thread and when they commented, even though I can’t read it so if this block feature is meant to work, I shouldn’t be able to know those notifications

Thank you, Joe. Maybe if you could also mention to the developer, I understand if one person wants to block me that’s fine but it kind of sucks that I’m blocked from everyone else in that one conversation and I can’t at least communicate to those who haven’t blocked me if you see what I’m saying.

Well that is the nature of the block function. If a person decides they do not wish to engage with you any further and they do not wish for you to be able to hear their content, unfortunately for you that also means you do not get to listen to the rest of the conversation. There's nothing to be done about that, and it is an individuals prerogative as to who they block or don't block.

Yes, Sally, I agree with you though. I guess I’m just used to other platforms where if you did ignore someone you still can be part of the conversation. You just can’t personally interact with them and then there’s some weird platforms where you can ignore someone and their messages are not visible to you, but you can still choose to read them if you want to as an option says it all up to the platform how they do things. I guess I’ve just wasn’t used to that.

I’m sure people have blocked any number of people. Freedom Of Speech implies freedom of association. So for instance you could block me on account of things I’ve said, and you’re not limiting my freedom of speech. But you are in that case practicing yours, in the form of freedom of association. Hence the 2 are in the same amendment to the US Constitution. ,
