My older tower fan did that as well. Whenever you turned it on, it would make a loud rattling noise. Weirdly, if you tilted it a bit to one side, the sound would instantly stop. I got fed up with it, and have a different one now. This one works with Alexa. It does have touch buttons on it, but there's an accessible app, Alexa, and a remote to control it.
