Re: bribery. This is jjust more direct. All elections are briberies, otherwise what's the point of voting for some wanker I don't care about unless I believe it can enhance my life or other people's lives in some meaningful way. If he had said he'd cut taxes for everyone by 5000 would this be any different?

A cut would only affect those who pay tax, those who don't earn enough to pay tax wouldn't benefit from a cut but would it benefit greatly from $5000 gift. But that will probably be taxable. 🤣

It's semantics really. I see nothing wrong with it. The bigger problem is the lying about all the shit that they aim to achieve; at least 5000 dollars is a clear goal you can point to and say "you did this" or the negative equivalent. I don't believe for a second that they intend to follow through, but if they did I wouldn't sweat about it.
