You can be an NFB member and receive training from a non-affiliated center. In fact, if it's about gaining back your confidence, maybe a smaller less busy center might work better for you. There are decent options in places like Pennsylvania, HKC in new york works and has good programs for deafblind people which i have to say NFB centers really do not have good support for deafblind people who are big D" deaf. But other places like Boston, Nebraska and Iowa are some other options and I'm sure people in other states have decent residential training centers they might recommend as well. If you are a senior, you should see if your state offers in-home training options available. Good luck

Well, it sounds like if you want any of this stuff you are going to have to open a VR case. Because I don't think a counselor is going to support paying for you to attend a training center again, if there's not a work goal involved. It's either that or you see if those centers have a scholarship that you could apply for, or you'd have to pay out-of-pocket I imagine. I don't know why you're so fixated on going back to Louisiana. There are other centers. And they can teach you the same things. I know that the centers in Iowa and Nebraska for example do teach structure discovery. So yeah, maybe try expanding your horizon and you'll have more success. also, here is an idea, if you have a good friend that you know, who you identify is having good blindness skills why not invite them to stay with you for a week or so, and they could teach you some things. Just an idea.
