    Yep, like Anthony says you're gonna want to make sure your recording level is lower than it currently is. Is your recorder one of the talking variety? If so, I hope it has an audible VU meter or indication of some sort. Visual users can look at the VU meter, which looks like waves, and when their is red color they know it is already too loud. I say look up the recording level settings and adjust.
