Anyone got advice on replacing a hooked cane tip?

Probably go up in there with some really fine needle nose plyers and catch hold of it and pull it back down so you can get it with your fingers, I've never seen a tip like you're talking about, I got one of them ball tips on mine, not the ones that roll either, they're just round like a ball.
