what is wrong with Debian 13.5 and speech during an install?

I’m assuming this is a Windows based OS that you are running virtual box in? Out of curiosity, what are the other Linux distributions that you’ve currently had successful installations with? Generally speaking, it’s very unusual to have hardware compatibility issues with Debian, as they usually support everything. But one thing you could try is creating a bootable USB and just boot into the live environment to make sure there are no hardware conflicts directly.
