There’s a long long tradition of capitalism blaming all of its failings on socialism. Do they really think that the power grid is all of a sudden socialist because this guy got elected last year? If the people owned the power grid and removed the profit motive they could actually invest in it. It might actually work then. Until then, maybe a better solution is to switch off times Square until the heat wave is over.

The people who own the power grid fund the campaigns of these people. It’s hilarious that their solution is to just remove the guidelines from official websites, just like what they did last year with any mention of climate change.

Also, what I’m seeing from New Yorkers is that they can’t afford to crank up the AC too much because the utility rates are being jacked up to accommodate the data centers that these billionaires need to run.

Here in DC we just elected a DSA style socialist mayor who beat the right wing Democrat because he was the one in charge of the utility board. He received tons of campaign money from the utility company for his campaign, because he refused to regulate them and keep peoples electric bills from skyrocketing.

Remember the massive wildfires that ravage the West Coast each summer? Taxpayers give massive subsidies to these billionaires with the expectation that they will upgrade and maintain a safe powered grid. Instead they jack up their rates while they’re crumbling infrastructure burns the place down .

In 100° heat, New York’s Penn Station has no air-conditioning today. Meanwhile, just above it, and Madison Square Garden there is plenty of electricity for Taylor Swift’s wedding… She’s building a castle inside the arena because it wasn’t attention grabbing enough to just have her wedding at a real castle. Go figure

NYC’s energy grid is maintained by a private company that reported over $2B in profit last year. The capitalists in charge of upgrading the grid are reaping profits by price gouging customers and demanding customers deal with the decrease to quality of life. Hope this helps.
