The TLDR: Take a few deep breaths. Notice your body, how breathing feels without controlling it. Notice as an independent observer what your body is doing. Next picture a running stream, or a stream of traffic. Notice what is going past you, that is your thoughts. Just as you don't identify as the cars or the water, you are not any of those thoughts. Now feel the wind. Notice your feelings. You are not the wind, even though you feel the wind, just as you are not your feelings, even though you feel them. Now notice those tiny little spaces between your thoughts, and experience that stillness. That stillness is you. You, the observer, watching and listening to the musical trio that is your body, mind, and emotions.
