I think private hangouts make sense on an app that has private bubbles. In fact, I wonder if allowing one hangout to be associated with, and restricted to, a private bubble would make sense. I haven't fully thought that through; it just now occurred to me.

If you can't hear, then of course you're not going to be able to participate as much. I'm totally in favor of bubbles being able to have their own private hangout. For some reason, I thought the system allowed the creation of private hangouts, but I looked at the create hangout option and there was no option to make the hangout private. Being a social butterfly at heart, but not being able to hear well enough to participate is a very lonely feeling. I especially remember this from my pre-cochlear days.
