Yeah, DVR can't even give me a braille notetaker because of the budget cuts. So yeah I'm just sitting here at home doing nothing. I just try to learn as much as I can, study for my GED, and play video games. Very few people want to hire blind people which is sad. I disagree with the NFB on some things, like saying we can do anything. We can do most things, but lets face it I can't be a brain surgeon. Even if I tried I'll probably fuck up someone’s head and that’s just a lawsuit waiting to happen. Oh and another thing, if CCB was smart they would provide housing for people after the program. They would make a lot more money as well, but I guess they don't think about that. I guess I just got lucky that they really liked me and after I graduated the center some people from CCB let me stay in their home until I can get on my feet.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences. As a blind person myself I really appreciate hearing the experiences of others. People you've never met but people who share the same experiences.  my journey was not your journey but I feel you. It's hard out here for blind folks. And I feel you about the NFB. That's not my favorite Organization. So, if there are any NFB Patriots on this app and who wants to come in here and make a comment, please do not attack me. This is not my post or my app so I can't tell you not to come in and comment. I just asked  that you do not attack me please. These are my comments  and my opinion. I do know that the NFB promotes independence at all cost so perhaps that's one reason why they don't support the graduates from the centers anymore than what they do. I guess they say, we gave you the foundation now you go out  into the world and do you. Make your way. I disagree with that. I think they should help people set up the whole package. If they blow it after that, that's on them. They're gonna have to rebuild on their own. But I think people should be given a chance and given a complete package which includes training, housing, employment, Medical insurance, equipment, etc. That's why I'm no longer a member. And support services and agencies for the blind, suck also.  I am All the way over here on the East Coast and  in my town, the services for the blind are bullshit. But hang in there. Keep sharing Because post like this can help other people process what they are going through  perhaps they may think that they are the only ones going through it.
