See I don’t know I mean, I’m so mixed on the whole idea because I don’t like to be babied either and I will fight you if you trust me believe me I’m learning how to be a fighter and a super hard educator and advocate. But I do not want to default to anger and aggression and have to get really on someone if they’re going to baby me and this is the problem I’ve been having in my family or with people that I know really well it’s like You cross a boundary and we are done and that’s it. And that’s why I come on here sometimes and I’m just like I had a terrible day because they babied me and it didn’t work out. But then you’ve got the other idea which is like maybe they’re coming from a good place and maybe they want to help and we are in a hurry or they insist or they don’t get it and they’re not gonna get it overnight and sometimes it’s nice to accept help and honestly sometimes my inner child or two-year-old or three-year-old just wants the attention in validation and if I’m told good job sweetie you’re doing well sometimes I cope by going into that two year-old for like 20 seconds and soothing my environment and then coming back and it feels so good that it feels like a crime to admit to the blind world. Hey, I got babied and it felt nice.

One good thing to remember when we run into objectionable treatment: What you do to me, tells me more about you, than about me. If we can remember this in the heat of the moment, and realize that we are learning about the person that has approached us, our response will better teach that person who we are, and want to be.

Depends how literal it is. I usually throw it right back at them. It's This is very effective if there's another person there are the same time; talk normally to the other person, baby talk back to the other one. Make it a joke on their expense while not taking it seriously. I hate being confrontational because I think it just makes us look worse and doesn't change anything, so instead I just act super casual and just go with the flow. This is easier said than done depending on the setting. If you have another person there with you to contrast then it's super effective. If it's solo I do the complete opposite and give them whiplash by being as whitty as I possibly can.

The worst part is when it's in the half zone of not being demeaning enough but still noticeable if you're used to it, because there's no great joke I can make that makes the other person look insane. My favorite part is when I'm with someone and get talked over. "What does he want". Perfect time to go with it! "Tell this gentleman I want to know what they recommend.". "Tell him I want more money in my bank account. Wait no don't do that, that might be redundent. I'll have the Korean Barbicue. Tell him that and don't forget to smile."

Of course being whitty isn't always easy. Like the 7 AM "holy shit I slept like shit last night and now I'm at school" type brain, and I just ran forehead first into a fucking streetlamp and I don't even care.

It's also important to let the people around you know how you want them to handle it. No, I really don't want you to redirect. If you tell the other person that I can speak for myself it's still like you are my handler. I want that realization to evolve naturally with just a tiny bit of embarrassment on the other person's behalf.

I don't think I've had the baby talk thing before. the condescending talk yes. after a doctors appointment I had a dude push the elevator button for me, instead of letting me do my thing. then said "hey guy, hey guy, do you need me to push the ground floor button for you too?" I said "I think I've got it from here champ." as the doors closed.

Body language plays a huge role in it yes. That being said it's not on me to manage for the sake of other people. I oftten do, but I can't be on my A-game all the time.

@Doug Lee see, I bet that actually fucking worked. As a person who plays my fair share of games online I encounter all sorts of toxic shitbags. Sometimes I am rude back and escalate. Sometimes I act super nice, then what ... we actually end up having a conversation and god forbid I've even had people apologize for being nasty!
