If I see it, I will say something. You can believe that.

First I want to say that I agree with a lot of Selina's comment. I do believe that this post came from a place of compassion and wanting to do the right thing, but as Selina pointed out, a call to action is all well and good, but yeah proposals for what that action should be needs to be a bit more clear. Also, "vulnerable" could be seen as subjective. You might perceive a 19 year old out here being approached by a 39 year old for example. You/a bystander might see their interaction and think that the 19 year old is the vulnerable one. But the 19 year old disagrees and is actually insulted that you don't think they are capable of looking out for themselves, as brash young people are wont to do? Or on the other end, if the 19 year old is the one with the intellectual advantage in the situation and is taking advantage of an intellectually vulnerable 39 year old? You intervene and the 39 year old might not have the mental capacity to understand that they are being taken advantage of. They just recognize that this 19 year old is being nice to them, pay attention etc. they don't feel vulnerable. So yeah I don't know. In the end, I think all we can do is observe, gather actual evidence, and present it to whatever authority figures that exist and can do something about it. But that is the important thing, documentation because there are a lot of rumors and he-said they-said that goes on, so document. If you see a thread and and you find the exchange between people who you think might be in a vulnerable situation, screen shot it. If you hear audio, copy it. See it. Document it. Report it.

I agree with King triple whopper. It's all about how you read the room and being able to do so. I've been around this community long enough, ever since I was a small child, long enough to be able to read the room, and know who is what. About 99% of the time, I've got a pretty good idea who are the types I've spoke about in this post. I wouldn't say insert your nose into every little piece of business. That's not what I'm trying to say here. Maybe I should have elaborate a bit more in the original post, but I was trying to multitask and get ready for work, and perhaps I didn't have all my thoughts gathered. I think basically the point I'm trying to make here is that if you sense vulnerability, you sense trouble, say something too, A, the vulnerable persons, and B, the offending parties. Absolutely confront. And absolutely defend, when necessary.

Wait, is this you patting yourself on the back for patronizing a blind and cognitively disabled woman by calling her honey and sweetie, telling her how much you cared about her and had her best interest at heart, but then spouted some ablest nonsense about tunnel vision and mental capacity of 12-year-old girls? Or were you just trying to be a prime example of the bad guys on this app you warned her about? Or both? Asking for a friend.

Wasn't trying to do any of that. He is trying to be affectionate, he's trying to be caring, and that's all there is to it. I don't mind if CASEY calls me Sweety, calls me, honey, and I don't mind if Jason does that either. They're just showing me they care. That's all that is.
