The result is extremely loud conversations about a tiny sliver of what is considered acceptable political viewpoint, and inability to achieve consensus reality, and people doubling down and blocking each other when they come into contact with news and ideas that don’t reinforce their bias and their political identity.

I agree with Sam, and I agree with Jim except for the part about there being no solutions. I think there are solutions to most of the problems we are experiencing but there is no political way to address them. Generalizing about America, we are trained to not talk about politics in general, which is very very destructive in the end. I also think the United States is the most propagandized population because it has been the most powerful tool of the ruling class, and they have monopolized everything here so that the loudest voices are either the least informed or the most deferential to that ruling class.

There comes a time when you just feel hopeless cause as much as you try to say or do about it, it doesn’t seem to go anywhere. 120000 people protested across the nation and nothing changed. Well, it did, it got worse. People are protesting against ICE and again, things are getting worse! Oh, and because you say that you get accused of being extreme left and part of a particular team. It’s also hard to discuss this with some people that are just listening to the narrative and not looking at the big picture. For example, people talked about Bidon’s open borders, but yet they haven’t even been to one. I have and if the borders were in fact open I wouldn’t have to wait for more than 4 hours to cross back into the US.I wasn’t told that, I lived it!

At Pikachu unfamiliar with this new hate speech legislation, but I'm sure it's only purpose is to cover for the Israeli supremacist.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I personally don't discuss any of this stuff here because I'm not interested in hearing the opinions of 2/3 of the users lol. I talk about it endlessly with people in my personal life, but on an app like this, I would rather talk about lighter things and avoid the unnecessary stress when it's not like anything useful is going to come from posting about it. I also kind of agree with Man of God that there's not much we can do about any of it and there's only so far venting our frustration can get us. What's the benefit to posting about it? Just to make people aware of what's going on?

Yes, I've noticed that too, to my disappointment. I know this is not clubhouse, but I remember when I was on clubhouse, there were dozens of rooms where they discussed legal issues, medical issues, world history, world politics, and alike. They weren't necessarily started by the visually impaired community but those spaces were there and they were quite informative. But it always seem like, and I'm not stereotyping because I am visually impaired myself, I'm not stereotyping but it seems like the rooms that visually impaired started just turned into hangout rooms. It was no discussion of politics. But just silly discussions on adult matters or Hey, what are you doing for the weekend, talk like that. I'm not stereotyping. I know that the visually impaired community can discuss politics. We are more than capable. At interestingly enough to me, there are many on this app who can discuss it, however, instead of discussing it in a Welcoming and open manner, they throw darts at each other, the opposing team. It's crazy. There's no reason why someone can't post something and then someone make a comment and say well, I agree or I don't really agree with that, think about this point of view or think about This event, etc. No no no. Not on this app. If someone just gets a whiff of you being on the left, you better run and hide. Cause if you don't, you're gonna get clobbered over the head or insult it and told that you are crazy. I don't know why we do that. I don't know why we can't just talk without attacking. I would love to hang out room where are such issues are discussed. But I don't even look at the titles of the hangout rooms anymore. I'm not an angel, But I find the titles sometimes to even be offensive. So there's no way I'm gonna go in. But if someone is gonna open a hangout room like that, please leave a post with the time and date that you're going to start it and I'll be there.

I think it has to do with a lot of people being overwhelmed by a frustration. There is not much that they can do about what’s going on. They see that Congress isn’t doing anything. And Donald Trump is just basically able to do what he wishes despite many people not agreeing with him. So what are Americans supposed to do? What actually are they supposed to talk about? If there were solutions put forth to some of the problems, maybe people would have something to talk about. What kind of solutions are they talking about in the rest of the world concerning this stuff? And I would imagine that the US isn’t looking too favorable in the eyes of a lot of the rest of the world anyway. Now, I think people are happier, talking about celebrities and music and Disney entertainment.
