This is really an interesting topic. And generally speaking, I agree with everybody’s concerns regarding the privacy invasion aspect of it. Where I’m hopeful that it will wind up going is that eventually we will land on devices where all the processing is managed locally instead of being collected by the most untrustworthy companies on the planet. And as an outspoken hater of most big tech, disgrace book being at the top of that list, I do believe their terrible reputation is definitely helping to elevate this increased pushback.

As far as I am aware, sidewalks certainly, open air city markets, parks, and obviously all governmental agencies could widely be categorized as public domains. But again, as far as I know, hospitals, airports, and certainly pubs and restaurants are ultimately private businesses that do have the right to set certain conditions as long as they do not violate discriminatory regulations. So it seems to me they would have the right to ban recording devices. They’ve certainly been able to ban news camera cruise for a multitude of different reasons, whether safety concerns, or just disturbances in general. But they do seem to have that right..
