When I was a wee lad in highschool, I listened to a lot of black metal. Satyricon stood out amongst that crowd as going from their black metal routes to a more prog rock style. They've got some fun riffs and the the drummer Frost is seriously underrated, a lot of super flavorful beats, a lot of them rather jazzy. Once in a while I get a wave of nostalja and go listen to some of that old music - well this is mid 2000s so I suppose compared to all the classic rock I listen to it's not that old, but it feels more old for me. Anyway, have the right of our cross!

Well, I saw it was over five minutes long so I only listened to the first 90 seconds. It's not my thing. I like my music a bit more melodic. Not to say that I don't like black metal necessarily, but when it's just screaming and shit I can't. A melodic band i like in this genre is winter sun. Absolutely love them. 🎸🎭

I had to stop doing the folk metal stuff because I ran out of things to play that wouldn't be entirely useless. No need to play bad music if it doesn't serve a purpose. Wish we had some good latin american folk. Anyways, this will be whatever music I feel like so I don't expect people to like it. Maybe some hidden gems in here, or maybe the poppiest of pops.

If you want melodic and clean vocals check out the song Phoenix by Satyricon. They had guest vocals on there, only clean. I never got into wintersun.

I gotcha, I guess I'm really not into metal like that. But I do have a couple of people I fuck with. Not necessarily in this black metal space. I went through a slipknot face, but that was I think about as hard as I wanted to go. GWAR was just a bit too much. And yeah. Slipknot is about as much as I engage with black metal and I don't know if they would even count. Lol

Slipknot definitely does not count, they're more industrial, haha. Black is a particular style, though as with any genre the lines can blur. The best part black does not have to be super intense and hardcore and a lot of black metal is explicitly made to sleep or meditate to. Slipknot is actually pretty darn heavy.
