So I manage an Airbnb, and I get questions like this all the time, because believe it or not, sighted folks, especially those who can not see small print, have asked me about this very thing, so I always make it a point to say on my listing exactly what I have installed on my doors, and I even have pictures of the locks. Of course, I change the codes constantly, if this is a concern, I would say before booking the place, ask the host how to access the house or property, and they are usually good at letting you know. Airbnb does follow accessibility guidelines, so if you do need special accommodations, hosts are pretty good about following Airbnb guidelines.

It verifies by public information if it can - if it can not then it does I’d check

Mine says identified via public database

Maybe the checks are there now because of all those college students that would get an Airbnb and then get drunk and trashed the Airbnb to prevent that from happening

It could be credit vs debit cards- credit cards have easy ways to identify them

It’s about half way down- There are a number of ways that we seek to verify a user’s identity including comparing identification, such as a government ID like a driver’s license, a passport or a national identity card, with the information provided by a user, sometimes with a selfie for photo matching. We may also use information such as a name, phone number, address, date of birth, or in the US, a Social Security number, and match this information with secure third-party databases.
