I absolutely love this genre of music. I listen to the show called echoes and it's hosted by John Deliberto and it's a program on public radio and he features ambient artist. People that I've liked from their include Steve Roach, and a collaborator of his Robert Rich. I also love Brian Eno, Harold Budd, definitely recommend checking out hi-fi sky and if you like more shoe gaze style I recommend bands like hammock, God is an astronaut And of course the OG's of shoe gaze Mogwai

No, you're actually right. Hammock, God is an astronaut etc. would probably fall under the more post rock genre. Especially now that I'm listening to fragile by God is an astronaut which is one of my favorites from them. I could really talk about this for hours! So if you ever do a hang out, let me know. I would love to compare notes and I bet you know a bunch of people that I don't and who knows, I might know some people that you haven't heard of. I know you're more familiar with some of the OGs like affects twin, Boards of Canada, and yes I absolutely love stars of the lid. I routinely play their albums when I'm falling asleep sometimes. Another more modern entry I would like to submit is Helios, like hammock, he does a lot of soft ambient collaborations with his wife Holly. Not sure if you knew that hammock used to be a band called glass bird, which was a collaborative project between Mark and his wife Christina glass. Another band for consideration is called goddamn electric bill, they're a bit indie but I like them. another newer artist is called locust toy box. and I'm going to stop now before I give you a novel! Lol

Oh my gosh, where are these listening sessions happening? I have so many good things to bring to the potluck! Lol anyway, Jamie, I absolutely adore love spell! I have a feeling you might also know of and like bands like the midnight perhaps? And I totally agree with you, this is so exciting to find other people who appreciate this kind of music. I feel like it's really hard to find people who like music that requires you to be still to enjoy the beautiful noise as you called it. 🎧☮️

Hey Jamie, the midnight have so many great albums honestly, but the one I always return to is their 2018 album called Kids. And if you're a fan of beach wave, two bands that I recommend if you haven't, checked them out yet are Hazel English and day wave

Oh my gosh this is amazing. You both are talking about so many bands I've never heard of! Also the genre of beach wave instantly captured my interest. I just dipped my toes into the midnight and Magdalena Bay. Totally my jam. Need to check out Hazel English and Day wave as well. Thank you both!

Well Fellow, if you liked them and want to dip your toe even further in to beach wave, I recommend The Lassie Foundation. They hooked me with their song El Rey, which I actually first heard on an old Buffy episode. I was so distracted by the background music they were playing during this one scene that I replayed it till I heard enough lyrics to google. Lol Anyhow, I like the thought of having this thread as just a place where we can drop random music recs for us and others to just check out you know?🎧☺️

I listen to that song and to me, it really just sounds like 90s pop. Of course with a bit of that shoe gaze sound thrown in. Interestingly, I couldn't find anything about a genre called Beach wave. I'm familiar with chillwave, and surf music and all that kind of stuff, but I personally have never heard of it and my research isn't finding anything called Beach wave. I'm curious to know how you came upon that particular term?
