It seems like echo cannot like songs in Spotify. Or I'm doing something wrong?

Wow, never heard of something like that. Well, that’s good question. For what you’re describing, it doesn’t seem like you’re doing anything wrong, but, Spotify sometimes it’s not the easiest thing to deal with. However, I have used it on an echo device, without any problem. You could basically specify it as a source, like safe for instance, play X on Spotify, and usually, that should do the trick.
