I've always liked Unix flavors and have used them since about 1985, but the GUI part is much more new to me and seems to take more time and energy to set up correctly. I'm used to using FreeBSD, Linux, etc., from ssh. I still do a lot of that, but I also have one Ubuntu 26.04 system running Gnome and Orca, and a rarely used but functional Debian VM that ran Orca fine under Vmware on Windows and should still do that under KVM though I don't think I've tried to use it that way yet. I tell people that Linux is very stable once you get it to do what you want, but that especially with laptop hardware, there may be some wrinkles and challenges getting it set up in the first place.
